for highway riding, i prefer the followingTo Docgabby.
If i'm using the CMS Gearbox Fullset, Highway.
(33/13) - 1st gear
(29/17) - 2nd gear
(23/17) - 3rd gear
(23/21) - 4th gear
and additional IKK Primary Gear & Clutch Gear Assy (72/22)
Is it suitable for long distance?

doc! is this for stock, higher displacement snipey? i'm a sport-tourer type rider on an all stock snipey...for highway riding, i prefer the following
gear 1- stock (34/12)
gear 2- 29/17
gear 3- 22/17
gear 4- stock (23/22)
i also prefer the stock primary gear ratio- 69/24.
this combo gives you good top speed especially on long straights.
this is a wide ratio combination to me.
highway riding does not require quickness but sustained high speed!![]()

we can choose our own combination based on what aftermarket is available. the thai sets are different. so its up to the buyer how he thinks the transmission suits his/her needs. sorry to say the four gear model cant just be converted to a five speed. but the five speed can be converted to a six speed.Yup, what u said is preferable.
but why they called the gearbox for highway use if the ratio such close to each other....
wondering why...
Docgabby, is it possible if gearbox 5 speed combine with gearbox 4 speed, is it possible?
stock or higher displacement i'd use the same combo. the sprocket combo will just be different and of course higher displacement the faster it can go.doc! is this for stock, higher displacement snipey? i'm a sport-tourer type rider on an all stock snipey...
Yeah, i just read your comment in http://yamahat135.com/threads/2011-yamaha-t135-transmission-5-speed-vs-old-4-speed.8308/,we can choose our own combination based on what aftermarket is available. the thai sets are different. so its up to the buyer how he thinks the transmission suits his/her needs. sorry to say the four gear model cant just be converted to a five speed. but the five speed can be converted to a six speed.
faito. kitti, sps. hipseed are the brands i know of. or you can go custom gear, ...try hermanu hku racing from indonesia he can make you a wide ratio or close ratio. i have ordered custom gears from him for my sniper 200cc dragbike.Yeah, i just read your comment in http://yamahat135.com/threads/2011-yamaha-t135-transmission-5-speed-vs-old-4-speed.8308/,
It cannot be converted, thanx a lot. I'm trying to find the seller in Malaysia that sell LHK Gearbox but, i cannot find one. Because CMS Gear box for 3rd gear 23/17, but LHK is 22/17.
Btw, is there any gearbox from other brand that have many choice of the gearbox?
Custom made? wow! thats superb!!! wonder if there is machine can do that in Malaysia. i think i'll search for it.faito. kitti, sps. hipseed are the brands i know of. or you can go custom gear, ...try hermanu hku racing from indonesia he can make you a wide ratio or close ratio. i have ordered custom gears from him for my sniper 200cc dragbike.
there are custom gear makers in malaysia for sure. alot of underbone racing parts come from malaysia and indonesia. for sure you will find one.Custom made? wow! thats superb!!! wonder if there is machine can do that in Malaysia. i think i'll search for it.
Btw Docgabby, have heard about some method called "Isotropic Superfinishing", is it give an advantage or disadvantage?
Hurm, seems like more better than std finishing, i think i will cost much more? am i right?REM Isotropic Superfinish

When two metals come in contact with one another, the friction created causes the metals to heat up. A surface that seems smooth to the touch and to the naked eye, when put under a microscope, can be seen to have many irregularities and ridges, like a mountain range. When you have two pieces of metal that come in contact with each other, these ridges grind against one another and create friction and heat. Lubricants are used to lessen the effects of the grinding, but much of the damage cannot be averted without more drastic measures.
The REM ISF™ process smoothes out these ridges at a molecular level so you have an even surface, resulting in a longer component lifespan and less friction, which means less heat generated. Using the REM ISF™ process to remove surface asperities allows your components to operate at lower temperatures, with greater durability, quieter operation, and increased efficiency. If you drive a race car, what you get are parts that last longer, move freer, and stay cooler than the competition. 50-60% reduction in parasitic drag is common. The superfinishing process enhances the capability of the lubricant you use and requires less frequent oil changes, with less metallic buildup when you do decide its time to change the oil.
REM's patented ISF™ process is used in many different industries, where performance and longevity is of utmost importance. The process is not industry specific and ranges, from aerospace and military applications, to professional racing, all the way to hobbyists.
definitely much much much more!!!Hurm, seems like more better than std finishing, i think i will cost much more? am i right?
ngeh....Docgabby,
I already try the combination between IKK clutch gear with gearbox ratio that u suggest.
IKK have more torque, and really unstable during long distance especially on highway. The engine vibration to heavy + High RPM reach to soon.
When i back to STD Original clutch gear, totally awesome!!! Feels really comfortable, Less Vibration, High RPM still can obtain.
Thanx a Lotx!!!
..just adjust with sprocket in order to lessen gaps between shifts. since in highway riding you shift less you dont want to sacrifice pull with too much high speed too. "just right" is highly individual....
Yeah, about the sprocket, its not be a problem, because i have plenty of sprocket set. from 30 until 42.ngeh......just adjust with sprocket in order to lessen gaps between shifts. since in highway riding you shift less you dont want to sacrifice pull with too much high speed too.
