Shell Advanced is semi-synthetic. For normal usage it is good enough.
I prefer full synthetic because my engine always cold start and always can't fully warm up before reaching destination. Full synthetic can provide much better protection under this condition, as semi-synthetic oil is thicker at cold temperature. I was using Motul semi-synthetic 15W-40 and it is pretty good after the engine has warm up.
Now changed to Royal Purple 5W-30, the cold start is excellent and the engine response is better at low rpm. I can use 1/4 throttle to reach maximum RPM fairly quick even the engine has not warm up. My next target would be Royal Purple 5W-20 or Mobil1 0W-30.
Some real good oil that I've tried on my old EX5:
Hi-rev 5W-40
Car engine oil 4L, i get it around RM90 and market price RM150. engine can start with only one kick when the bike is left untouched for 1.5weeks. Used for 9 months without problem.
The bike can easily rev up to max RPM, can even overshoot slightly and the engine won't felt stressful at all.
Some recommendations (full synthetic):
1. Castrol Syntec 0W-30, RM40 per quad.
2. Mobil1 0W-20, RM37 per quad.
3. Redline 5W-20, RM55 per quad.

i use repsol mineral based oil...heard semi and full synth may cause clutch slippage..runs good....one kick or one click starts

its the temperature range you can use the oil
w stands for winter,number before it is the lowest temperature you can use the oil and the other one (20) is the highest temperature you can use it..thats ambient temperature or outside temperature...
the higher the range..the more stable the oil in temperature changes..but the more additives it has

better if you can find repsol...works great...mineral based but the same price as semi sythetics...
i use my bike daily so i may change to repsol syntetico(semi-synth) anytime soon

yeah...cost the same as a castrol...160 php, shell vsx cost about 200 php
and repsol mineral based cost 250 php..its semi synth(sintetico) cost 500+ php and repsol racing oil is about 650+ php

actually all oil (mineral, semi or full) have the same viscosity at 100C. So it wont really burn ur clutch when engine is warmed up. I have used very thin oil for long and the clutch is still working damn fine 
Lower viscosity oil provides good protection when the engine is COLD. Cold in thesense that, the engine hasnt reached the operating temperature yet. Modern engine are designed to work at 100C (Tat's why we cool with water). For air-cooled bike, higher rating is recommended because the engine might go beyond 100C, but 135LC has water cooling, the engine is always running at around 100C when warm up. So no nit worry about the clutch burnt or slippage. The lower rating the better in terms of engine protection, as our engine wear n tear is the most when it is cold

repsol mineral based...its good...but i want to try the semi-synth just to know if its better...been riding a lot and revving a lot...checked my oil and still amber...nice
