Can Battery Suddenly Die?

Hello everyone,

I've experienced the following and I am not sure what's causing it.
I have a 3 year old T135-FI with the closed type battery. The one you can't add fluid.
Battery has always been healthy since I park my T135 in perfect temperature and humidity but yesterday after I turned the key, all indicators were bright and fuel pump sounded fine. Engine starter seemed powerful and in general everything worked fine like the bike was new. I drove about 5km, turned the engine off, and when after 3 minutes I pressed the engine starter button, indicators faded out and starter didn't have enough power to turn the engine. I tested the battery with a multimeter and the rating was 12,80 volts. The symptoms are indicatin that the battery suddenly died but that usually is followed by low voltage something which didn't seem to be the case here.
Any help is appreciated.

Thanks for your reply.
I wonder how is that possible...
Do you think that there may be an electronic on the bike that is damaged and can cause that short circuit again?
Is it worth looking deeper?

12.8 to 12.6 volts is usually normal,13.5 is when your engine is running best way to test it is to use another battery as bro. trax said.mine got drained after running it hell, thats when i know i have to change my mf battery
