how high is a high lift cams......

well somebody is showing me a different lift of cams but he unable to explain the difference of each and if it is compatible w/ stock valve spring

e.i:hi-speed(brand),the lifts are.....5.0,5.5 and 6.0(i dont know if it is in mm or what...probably in mm,i guess)...plus all of those cams includes a needle(i really dont know the used of it...but it is included to the cams package)

i just dont know if those lift are good enough for our mc...or it is too high for us....

what are the pros and cons of using high lift cams?
i notice in some common brand, a bearing is included with the purchase of the cams. if it ain't included, is the stock bearing of the old cams will be used when installing them?
